Scholars under the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) proudly celebrated the completion of their Masonry NC II training at the Itogon Municipal Gym on February 17, 2025, marking a significant step toward self-sufficiency and employment. The event was organized by Sharon W. Baroa, CTEC Coordinator of Itogon.
In his opening remarks, Provincial Training Center (PTC) Benguet Ferdinand B. Montaรฑez, emphasized the importance of continued learning highlighting opportunities for entrepreneurship training. He also encouraged them to consider upskilling through Carpentry NC II, another step toward expanding their expertise in construction. Furthermore, PTC Benguet pledged training of Carpentry NC II scholarship, showing its continued support.
Certificates and allowances were distributed during the training, ensuring that scholars not only gained new skills but also received financial support. Krisyl R. Quiriones, TESD II of PTC Benguet, led the certificate distribution, while the allowance distribution was spearheaded by Ayomea Joyce I. Basitan, Administrative Assistant of TESDA Provincial Office Benguet, assisted by Audrey Cana C. Magallis, Technical Assistant of PTC Benguet.
In the closing remarks of Arnel F. Bahingawan, Municipal Administrator of Itogon, he expressed his appreciation for the training program, acknowledging the value of National Certificates (NCs) in securing employment. He reassured the attendees that the local government is open to more training programs for continued community development.
The closing ceremony is not just an end but a new beginning for these scholars who now possess the skills and certification to pursue careers in masonry. With TESDA and local government support, the road ahead is filled with opportunities for growth and employment, paving the way for a skilled and empowered workforce in Itogon.
