Tadian, Mountain Province — A training on Backstrap Weaving for Wanes/Loin Cloth was held on September 19–21, 2025, bringing together teachers and students of Tadian who are eager to learn the traditional art of weaving.

The sessions were led by Fortunata B. Guimas, with additional trainers Esther Bao-et and Elizabeth Acyapas, all of whom shared their skills and experiences to guide the participants in using the backstrap loom. The participants, composed of DepEd personnel and students, were given hands-on practice and exposure to the basic and detailed steps of weaving.

The training was funded by the Provincial Local Government Unit of Mountain Province (PLGU–MP) through the Office of the Governor, in partnership with TESDA–Mountain Province.

According to the organizers, the activity is part of the continuing effort to preserve the weaving tradition of the Cordillera while also introducing it as a possible source of livelihood for the younger generation.
