LA TRINIDAD, Benguet โ€” The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Benguet, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of La Trinidad, officially opened the Community-Based Training (CBT) on Meat Processing on March 4, 2026, at the Longlong Puguis Multi-Purpose Cooperative, providing valuable livelihood opportunities for out-of-school youth in the municipality.

The training, which will run for three days, aims to equip participants with practical knowledge and hands-on skills in meat processing that they can use for employment or small business ventures. The program is facilitated by TESDA trainer Daisy Yan, who will guide the trainees throughout the training.

During the opening program, Charity C. Magallis, CBT Focal Person, provided an overview of the Community-Based Training (CBT) program, highlighting TESDAโ€™s commitment to bringing skills development programs directly to communities. She explained that CBT focuses on livelihood-based training designed to empower individuals, particularly out-of-school youth, by providing them with accessible opportunities to learn and develop skills.

She also noted that many of the participating youth are currently students, making the initiative an important partnership that supports not only their academic journey but also their skills enhancement, helping them become better prepared for future employment and livelihood opportunities.

Arlene L. Cadalig, Acting Provincial Director, also delivered an inspirational message encouraging the trainees to complete the training and pursue National Certification (NC) in the future. She emphasized that the program is not only about developing technical skills but also about opening doors to future employment and livelihood opportunities.

Meanwhile, Jocelyn S. Wansay, PEO II, expressed her appreciation to the trainees for their willingness to participate and learn, as well as to the trainers and organizers who made the activity possible. She also expressed her gratitude to the LGU of La Trinidad for its support in conducting the training.

The three-day CBT on Meat Processing aims to empower out-of-school youth with practical livelihood skills, supporting TESDAโ€™s mission to promote inclusive growth and improve employment opportunities within the community.
