17 members of the Paco-Lepanto and Sapid Women’s Association Inc. (PLSWAI) celebrated the successful completion of their reskilling training on January 31, 2024. This Competency-based Training (CBT) on Hilot was held from January 27 to 31, 2024, at the CPJ Building, Lepanto, Paco, Mankayan.
PLSWAI, having 120 active members, initiated the training. Manakayan Community Training and Employment Coordinator (CTEC) Joy Dom-ogen served as the training coordinator, while Minda Coga-ay served as the program trainer. The activity was supported by various partners, including TESDA Benguet, Local Government Unit (LGU) Mankayan, Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company and private sponsors.
TESDA Benguet Acting Provincial Director Arlene L. Cadalig shared the TESDAโs programs focusing on upskilling, reskilling, and inskilling. “I am grateful for the partnerships that made this training possible, and itโs encouraging to see such enthusiasm from both the trainees and the partners involved,” she said.

PLSWAI President Jacqueline F. Degay expressed heartfelt thanks for the training, which she described as the association’s long-time dream. She emphasized that many of their members had once benefited from TESDAโs programs and were now ready to sustain and share their new skills in their community.
Key local figures, including Andres Bolislis, representative of Mayor Dario S. Banario, Barangay Captain James Gomgom-o, Connie Odonio from Lepanto Consolidated Mining Companyโs Community Relations Office, and private sponsors, attended the event.
PLSWAI, which also operates a bakeshop and sewing business, plans to add Hilot services to its livelihood programs. This will further enhance the opportunities available to its members and contribute to the local economy.
The completion of the training marks an important milestone for PLSWAI as they continue to empower their members and strengthen their community-driven initiatives.
