On October 28, 2024, a significant step was taken towards empowering the community of Atok, Benguet, with the opening of the Masonry NC I program under the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) Scholarship. Hosted at Celo Haight Elementary School, Atok, Benguet this initiative is a testament to the Provincial Training Center of Benguet’s (PTC Benguet) strengthened partnership with the Local Government Unit of Atok (LGU Atok).

This program stands out not only for its technical focus on masonry skills but also for its inclusivity. Many of the enrolled scholars are graduates of the Alternative Learning System (ALS), demonstrating that the STEP Scholarship opens doors to vocational training for individuals of all educational backgrounds. This opportunity enables community members, regardless of previous schooling, to gain valuable skills, paving the way to employment and self-sufficiency.

The collaboration between TESDA PTC Benguet and LGU Atok represents a shared commitment to providing access to quality Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

As the scholars begin their journey with Masonry NC I, the partnership aims to uplift individuals, strengthen local labor, and build a resilient future for the municipality of Atok.
