In line with TESDA Abra’s dedication to assisting and uplifting women, the office is pleased to honor Women’s Month by emphasizing the significance of breastfeeding and advocating adherence to Republic Act No. 10028, referred to as the “Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009.” This law seeks to offer enhanced opportunities and assistance for breastfeeding mothers at work, allowing them to meet their breastfeeding responsibilities while advancing their careers.
The Department of Health (DOH) has recognized TESDA-Abra as the first TESDA-Provincial Office in the Cordillera Administrative Region to be recognized as a Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace.
A team from DOH-CAR, led by Nutritionist Dietitian IV Candice Salingbay of DOH-CHD-CAR, Charmaigne Lazo, and Jenelyn Leaรฑo, visited the Abra Provincial Office on March 5, 2025, to evaluate and verify the breastfeeding space and whether or not it complies with Republic Act No. 10028’s guidelines. On March 7, 2025, a certificate of accreditation was granted.
This accomplishment strengthens TESDA-Abra’s commitment to fostering a workplace that acknowledges the significant contributions of women. It further strengthens continuous efforts to promote a culture of support, awareness, and empowerment for breastfeeding mothers in the institutions.
