The 8th La Trinidad Coffee Festival officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 10, 2025, at the municipal grounds, with the theme โBrewing Unity through Coffee.โ The event was led by Municipal Vice Mayor Hon. Roderick Awingan, alongside DTI Baguio-Benguet Provincial Director Felicitas Bandonill, TESDA Benguet Acting Provincial Director Arlene L. Cadalig, DOT Chief Tourism Operations Officer Sylvia Chinayog, Mario Baucas Jr., and members of the Municipal Council.
During the program, APD Cadalig expressed her support by highlighting TESDA’s commitment to strengthening the local coffee industry. She outlined various training programs and courses available to coffee growers. She also emphasized that the Coffee Production Level II course provides local farmers and entrepreneurs with valuable opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge.
The event concluded with Municipal Agriculturist Nida Organo highlighting the cultural and economic importance of coffee to the Cordillerans. She recognized the eight barangay-based coffee growersโ associations that are federated through the La Trinidad Arabica Coffee Producers Association (LATACPA) for their dedication and hard work, underscoring how coffee farming not only sustains local livelihoods but also plays a crucial role in preserving the regionโs agricultural heritage and identity.
This yearโs La Trinidad Coffee Festival not only celebrated the rich flavors and traditions of local coffee but also showcased the collaborative efforts of government agencies, local organizations, and farmers in fortifying the coffee industry.
