Recently, TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) Kalinga – Provincial Office conducted a training program on Banana Chips Making at barangay Apatan, Pinukpuk, Kalinga in collaboration with 103rd Infantry (Mabalasik) Battalion, 51D, Philippine Army spearheaded by, 1LT Leah A. Jangao on September 11, 2023.

A total of seventy (70) residents of the barangay has successfully completed the training which were mostly senior citizens. This initiative aimed to empower community members by providing them with skills and knowledge in producing a popular and profitable local snack. The training program was designed to equip participants with the necessary skills to start their own banana chips business or seek employment in existing companies specializing in snack production.

Through this program, TESDA not only promoted entrepreneurship but also offered individuals an alternative source of income. It provided an opportunity for residents to acquire new skills that could potentially lead to economic growth within the community.

By learning how to make banana chips, participants were able to tap into a thriving industry and contribute to the local economy. TESDA’s efforts in conducting such training programs highlight their commitment to helping communities thrive and develop. By focusing on practical skills that are in demand, TESDA ensures that participants have the opportunity to find employment or start their own businesses, ultimately improving their quality of life.
