LOAKAN, BAGUIO CITY- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority -Cordillera Administrative Region (TESDA-CAR) headed by Regional Director Jeffrey Ian C. Dy sends 19 trainers of Carpentry, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, and Masonry to help the victims of Typhoon Odette in Bohol today, January 04, 2022.


It can be recalled that Typhoon Odette hit Bohol on December 16 last year leaving deaths and extensive damages, many families spent their Christmas roofless and some totally lost their houses. 


“TESDA CAR answered the call of our DG Isidro Lapeña to send augmentation teams to train, and help rebuild homes of those affected by Typhoon Odette. Our teams will mainly be deployed in Bohol and are committed in assisting the rehabilitation of Bohol. Special thanks to our volunteer trainers and civil works team for this endeavor,” Regional Director Dy said.


As part of the Secretary’s directive to bring the “TESDAmayan” to another level and to ensure a well-coordinated, faster, and more efficient delivery of assistance programs to the victims of Odette, the TESDA Central Office assigned various regions through a “Buddy System” to help areas devastated by Typhoon Odette.


TESDA CAR and TESDA Region I was assigned to provide skills training, particularly on construction-related courses to help in rebuilding the houses of the victims of Typhoon Odette in Bohol. 


Earlier today, TESDA CAR team led by Assistant Regional Director Joel M. Pilotin together with the 19 trainers from the Provincial Training Centers (PTCs) of TESDA Kalinga, TESDA Mt. Province, TESDA Abra, TESDA Apayao, and TESDA Ifugao were transported by the Armed Forces of the Philippines- Philippine Air Force through the C-130 aircraft.


The trainers arrived in Bohol at 4 PM today bringing with them their tools and other necessary training materials to respond to the residents quickly.


TESDA CAR Regional Director Jeffrey Ian C. Dy said that the trainers will stay in Bohol for about three (3) weeks to assist the residents in the repair of their houses.


“TESDAmayan” is the agency’s banner program created under the leadership of Secretary Lapeña that aims to aid communities affected by any crisis brought about by natural calamities, disasters, or any other untoward incidents which cause displacement among the residents.
