In the effort to institutionalize technical-vocational education and training (TVET) and livelihood programs for former drug dependents who have undergone rehabilitation and in the celebration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2024 (IDADAIT 2024) , the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority- Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education Main Campus (TESDA-CSITE Main Campus) facilitated the conduct of a Skills Training on Pastry Making for Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUDs) at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center- Out Patient Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (BGHMC-OPDTRC) on June 28, 2024.
IDADAIT is an annual celebration to raise awareness against stigma and discrimination towards Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUDs) and treating them with respect and empathy by offering alternatives to punishment, prioritizing prevention, and serving with compassion.
Thirty-five (35) PWUD’s and seven of which 28 are males and 7 females attended the said activity. The 35 PWUDs were joined by 7 BGHMC – OPDTRC staff. Ms. Diana T. Basinga, TESDA- CSITE Main Trainer, provided her expertise on Pastry Making and has delivered them effectively, as the participants were able to produce quality pastries.
To disseminate more information on the programs and services of TESDA and CSITE, Vilma W. Tolarba, Registrar of CSITE-Main enlightened and encouraged the PWUDs to enroll, develop and gain more skills.
This event was made in collaboration with Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center- Out Patient Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (BGHMC-OPDTRC) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority- Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education Main Campus (TESDA-CSITE Main Campus).
The goal of the endeavor is to provide quality skills training to support the participants for better livelihood opportunities.
