In line with the community-based training program of the Authority, TESDA Ifugao Provincial Office partners with the Ifugao State University (IfSU) – Lagawe Campus and the Ifugao District Jail in conducting skills training on Cake, Bread and Pastry Making for persons deprived with liberty (PDL).
The objective of the skills training program is to equip the PDL with technical/vocational skills which they can use in seeking employment or starting their own business after release from confinement and to make the PDL as competitive as other potential job seekers.
The first batch of training was conducted on April 26, 2023 to May 10, 2023 with graduates of 26 PDLs, and 3 correctional officers. The graduates had also undergone competency assessment on Bread and Pastry Production NC II on May 13-14, 2023, which they all successfully passed and were given their National Certificates by TESDA.
In the implementation of the program, TESDA and IfSU Lagawe Campus shared in the provision of training supplies and materials; for the resource speakers or trainers, they are all staff of IfSU Lagawe Campus in the persons of Vicente L. Kalaw, Jenifer P. Pinkihan, Joy N. Habbiling, Cyrene Fae C. Pangan, Blenign B. Cacliong and Corine Joy S. Tapo. The Ifugao District Jail has a conducive training facility, equipped with baking tools and equipment which served as the training venue.
Training certificates and national certificates were awarded to the graduates during the closing program on May 18, 2023 by the Officer In-Charge of TESDA Ifugao Provincial Office, Ms. Melita D. Pinic, IfSU Lagawe Campus representative, Mr. Vicente L. Kalaw and the District Jail Warden of the Ifugao District Jail, CINSP Gannisi W Olosan.
