La Trinidad, Benguet โ A total of 261 TESDA Scholars under the DOTr scholarship program had their commencement exercise on January 14, 2023, at Kingโs College of the Philippines, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The scholarship program is through the initiative of TESDA and DOTr, that allotted Php. 6,100,523.00 budget, dubbed as โTsuper Iskolarโ. The program aims to provide skills and economic assistance for stakeholders affected by the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
TESDA-CAR Assistant Regional Director Jimmicio S. Daoaten congratulated the graduates as they have achieved another accomplishment through government intervention.
โThe short courses you have undergone can usher opportunities to start a small business, gain employment as an entrepreneur, industry worker and to provide for your family in the long run,โ he added.
Among the identified qualifications under the โTsuper Iskolarโ were Heavy Equipment Operator (Wheel Loader) NC II, Heavy Equipment Operator (Hydraulic Excavator) NC II Bookkeeping NCIII, Driving NC II, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, and Slaughtering Operation (Swine) NCII which was implemented through the Technical Vocational Institutions namely: BVS Colleges, Kingโs College of the Philippines, Cordillera Brotherhood Transport Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Blue Phenix Skills Training Center, MMS Development Training Corporation, and Cordillera Quest.
The OIC-Regional Director of LFTRB-CAR, Engr. Lalaine E. Sobremonte, shared the journey of the โTsuper Iskolarโ all throughout its implementation and she also lauded TESDA and DOTr for successfully implementing the program as a support mechanism to the families affected by the PUVMP.
Meanwhile, Dir. Daoaten urged the graduates to cherish the moment and take on upon themselves to develop, utilize, enhance and become experts with the new skills they have acquired.
Also in attendance were the DOTr Acting Chief of Legal and Technical Division Atty. Jessie Balagot, LTFRB-CAR Transportation Regulation Officer Engr. Elmer Mendoza, and the School Administrators of BVS Colleges, Kingโs College of the Philippines, Cordillera Brotherhood Transport Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Blue Phenix Skills Training Center, MMS Development Training Corporation, and Cordillera Quest.//Coores Celoy
