20 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) received training on Bread and Pastry Making at the Baguio City Jail-Female Dormitory, Cordillera Administrative Region (BJMP-CAR Female Dormitory) from September 19-20, 2024, led by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education Main Campus (TESDA-CSITE Main Campus).
During the opening program, Mr. Felixberto B. Matute Jr., CSITE Main Campus Administrator, emphasized the importance of teaching self-sufficiency by quoting, “Give the man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” He encouraged the trainees to learn and practice in preparation for their return to mainstream society. JSINSP Joan Bacayan, the Acting Warden of BJMP-FD, expressed gratitude to the institution for the support they have received.
The TESDA-BJMP aims to provide skills development opportunities for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), probationers, and parolees to improve their economic status, create livelihood opportunities, and facilitate their reintegration into their respective communities. Six BJMP-CAR Female Dormitory Personnel participated in the training, facilitated by Diana T. Basinga, a trainer from CSITE Main Campus.
After the skills training, CSITE Main Campus hopes that the trainees will be equipped with the skills and knowledge in bread and pastry making that they can utilize upon their return to their communities.
