Lagawe, Ifugao – Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Regional Director Balmyrson M. Valdez pays a courtesy call on Governor Jerry U. Dalipog of Ifugao, today, June 7, 2023 at Lagawe, Ifugao.
During the meeting, Governor Dalipog and RD Valdez discussed, among others, about organizing an industry board for some industries in Ifugao, like furniture making and blacksmithing. Before the meeting, RD Valdez went around the provincial capitol plaza, where local products, including furniture and blacksmith products are displayed at the Agro-Tourism and Industrial Trade Fair when interest of the subject came up.
“We will help these local producers to compete with the market, in order to do this there is a need to set a standard… we can first focus on blacksmithing, identify the associations and meet them to have a common consensus for the establishment of an industry board” Valdez said.
Governor Dalipog mentioned the need to integrate the uses of machines to the usual manual production, and look at more ways to improve the products.
Dalipog said “TESDA will lead in this endeavor and I will assign a PLGU staff to assist.”
Also present during the meeting were TESDA Ifugao Provincial Office Officer In-Charge, Melita D. Pinic, Cordillera State Institute of Technology Education (CSITE) Ifugao Campus Administrator Eduardo O, Tamayao, CSITE Main Campus Administrator Felixberto M. Matute, Jr., some staff of the Governor and TESDA.
