Caglayan, Conner- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) through the Provincial Training Center (PTC)-Apayao started distributing the STEP (Scholarship Training for Employment Program) toolkits to scholars last March 2024.
It was yesterday on June 25, 2024 that the remaining and newly delivered STEP Toolkits were distributed to graduates alongside with the celebration of the 61st Founding Anniversary of the Municipality of Conner.
TESDA Provincial Director Glenn N. Murphy led the ceremonial distribution together with Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr, first lady Heidiliza S. Bulut, Mayor Jorico F. Bayaua, Vice Mayor Alexander Aswigueand former Board Member Samuela Real.
Around 220 scholars of the province were given opportunity to enhance their productivity with the recent turn-over of their starter kits/toolkits. The tool kits are funded under the Office of the Congresswoman thru TESDA for the scholars of the STEP program aside from the free training, assessment and the PHP160 per day allowance of the scholars received while completing their training.
During the distribution, TESDA Provincial Training Center Administrator Fidelia Y. Galvezo gave a rundown of the training courses which aim to enhance the employability of the graduates through the provision of starter toolkits. These qualifications are the following: Assembly Solar Night Light and Post Lamp, Produce Organic Fertilizer, Masonry NC I and Tile Setting NC II.
She once again praised the scholars for not only completing their training but also for passing their assessment.
Ms. Galvezo added that around 91% had already took their assessment and still encouraging the remaining 12 pax to undergo the National Competency Assessment to further their employability.
She also said that for the year, several scholarship programs and free trainings are still up for grabs to yApayaos of all ages.
