
In a proactive move to promote safety awareness and disaster readiness, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education (TESDA-CSITE), Kalinga, in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Kalinga, successfully conducted a Fire and Earthquake Drill at its training facility. The initiative was designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in emergency response and fire prevention.
The event began with informative sessions led by key safety personnel. Ms. Marilou O. Agpad presented the fundamentals of fire safety, stressing the importance of having a practiced fire escape plan and proper use of fire extinguishers. Ms. Rizza Mae D. Andomang introduced participants to the widely recognized PASS Method (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep), demonstrating how to operate fire extinguishers effectively and safely.
Mr. Dumbab B. Bumosao provided a comprehensive briefing on evacuation procedures. His session focused on identifying evacuation routes, assembly areas, and the significance of maintaining calm while executing a quick and safe evacuation during emergencies.
The highlight of the activity was a simulated fire and earthquake drill, where participants demonstrated their understanding by executing evacuation protocols, assembling at designated safety zones, and following proper safety procedures.
The TESDA-CSITE administration expressed its appreciation to all participants and partners, reaffirming the importance of regular safety drills as part of the institution’s commitment to safeguarding lives and promoting a culture of preparedness.
