In celebration of Mental Health Awareness and National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, TESDA-CSITE, Kalinga Campus, launched a series of vibrant and meaningful activities from May 19–21, 2025, aimed at promoting both physical wellness and mental well-being among its personnel, trainers, and trainees.
The week kicked off on May 19 with an energetic Zumba Session held immediately after the Flag Raising Ceremony. The lively beats and infectious energy brought smiles and sweat, setting the tone for a health-focused week.
On May 20, participants from five qualifications—Driving NC II, Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NC II, Automotive Servicing NC I, Organic Agriculture and Production NC II, and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II enthusiastically competed in a variety of events, including volleyball, badminton, 100m running, chess, word factory, and the ethics Games, which featured the sack race and knee pop balloons. After a full day of exciting and friendly rivalry, EIM NC II claimed the title of Overall Champion, earning well-deserved applause and recognition from the entire campus community.
In addition to the sports events, the campus further emphasized the importance of mental wellness by displaying advocacy posters on bulletin boards. These visual materials served as daily reminder to students and staff of the value of self-care, empathy, and mental health awareness.
A culminating event was held on May 21 focused on Mental Health Awareness. The campus welcomed Lovelia R. Iringan also known as “Ma’am Mahal”, University Guidance Counselor of Kalinga State University, as the guest speaker for a reflective and inspiring session themed “Mental Health Starts with Me.”
The program began with an interactive activity facilitated by Irene M. Dagwasi, which encouraged participants to open up, reflect on their emotions, and engage with one another in a supportive space. This activity helped create a warm and trusting atmosphere that set the stage for the main session.
During her talk, Ma’am Mahal emphasized the importance of self-awareness and emotional well-being. “Nu ag riing ti agsapa umuna nga aramidem ket kamustahim ti bagim,” she said. She reminded the audience that taking a moment each morning to ask, “Okay pa ba ako?” can be a powerful step in maintaining mental health. Likewise, she highlighted the importance of gratitude, urging everyone to focus more on their blessings rather than their struggles. Her heartfelt words left a lasting impact, reminding all attendees that mental wellness truly starts from within.
The three-day activity showcased the commitment of TESDA-CSITE, Kalinga Campus, to holistic development, nurturing both the mind and body.
Congratulations to everyone who participated, organized, and supported this successful event. Let’s continue to move, reflect, and grow together.
