In line with TESDA-CSITE’s ongoing commitment to instructional excellence, a two-day retooling and calibration activity was held from July 31 to August 1, 2025. This initiative aimed to enhance the quality of session plans and instructional materials used by CSITE trainers, ensuring that their teaching strategies align with the evolving pedagogical standards in TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training). The activity, led by Ms. Annelyn M. Gaspili, Supervising TESDS of the CSITE Executive Office, emphasized the importance of continuous improvement and standardization in instructional design.

The session began with an overview of key instructional design principles, stressing the alignment of learning outcomes, activities, and assessment tools. Ms. Gaspili highlighted TESDA’s modernization efforts to innovate TVET delivery while maintaining pedagogical consistency across programs. The participants reviewed essential components of quality session plans, focusing on clear objectives, logical sequencing, and strategies for differentiated learning. Additionally, the calibration of existing instructional materials was conducted through a critique and peer review process, identifying common gaps such as misalignment with learning outcomes and outdated references.

Despite the productive discussions and collaborative activities, time constraints limited the ability to fully engage with the material. As a result, it is recommended that future sessions be extended to allow for more in-depth exploration, hands-on practice, and meaningful discussions. By providing more time for these activities, the learning experience can be further enhanced, ensuring that trainers are equipped with the tools to deliver high-quality, learner-centered education.
