LOAKAN, BAGUIO CITY- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) will send 19 trainers of Carpentry, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, and Masonry to help the victims of Typhoon Odette in Bohol tomorrow, January 04, 2022.
TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeรฑa in a statement said that โI have directed our Regional and Provincial Offices to expedite the provision of training on construction-related courses such as Carpentry and Electrical Installation so the displaced residents can immediately rebuild their homes.โ
As part of the Secretaryโs directive to bring the โTESDAmayanโ to another level and to ensure a well-coordinated, faster, and more efficient delivery of assistance programs to the victims of Odette, the TESDA Central Office assigned various regions through a โBuddy Systemโ to help areas devastated by Typhoon Odette.
TESDA CAR together with TESDA Region 1 was assigned to provide skills training, particularly on construction-related courses to help in rebuilding the houses of the victims of Typhoon Odette in Bohol.
In CAR, the trainers are from the Provincial Training Centers (PTCs) of TESDA Kalinga, TESDA Mt. Province, TESDA Abra, TESDA Apayao, and TESDA Ifugao.The 19 trainers are composed of 4 trainers of Electrical Installation and Maintenance, 9 trainers of Carpentry, and 6 trainers of Masonry.
TESDA CAR Regional Director Jeffrey Ian C. Dy said that the trainers will stay in Bohol for about three (3) weeks to assist the residents in the repair of their houses.
Secretary Lapeรฑa said during todayโs flag ceremony that 92 personnel from Luzon will be transported by the Armed Forces of the Philippines through the Philippine Air Force aircraft to the typhoon-hit areas bringing with them their tools and other necessary training materials to respond to the residents quickly.
โTESDAmayanโ is the agencyโs banner program created under the leadership of Secretary Lapeรฑa that aims to aid communities affected by any crisis brought about by natural calamities, disasters, or any other untoward incidents which cause displacement among the residents.
