Table skirting skills training was conducted by TESDA Kalinga – Provincial Office in collaboration with BJMP Kalinga on February 9-11, 2023 at BJMP Compound, Purok 6, Bulanao, Tabuk City. The training aimed to enhance the skills of table skirting among the Inmates & Detainees or Person Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). It was designed to broaden their knowledge on the application and techniques on the said skill, likewise aims at improving their confidence level or capabilities in using this skill as a livelihood once they are freed from custody.
Twenty five (25) PDLs joined the activity willingly, as one of the participant said “We don’t want to waste our time in just sitting and waiting on what will happen to us but rather use our time to become multi-skilled, joining every training & development, for a better change”.
The training program started with an orientation on table skirting, its types and significances. This was followed by a practical session where participants were taught on the basic and combination of styles of skirting, safety measures and proper use of tools.
Thereafter, the PDLs was given the opportunity to demonstrate and showcase what they had learned at hand. They have been divided into (5) five groups and work in team until they finish their output. Two (2) BJMP personnel with the TESDA trainer judge their accomplishment and result was announced on the last day where all had successfully past and completed the training.
During the closing ceremony, JCINSP. JOHN WAYLAND M. LAPON, Jail Provincial Administrator and JSUPT. MARY ANN O. TRESMANIO, Regional Chief Director Staff was present and astoundingly amazed with the output of the PDLS and had given their deepest thankfulness to TESDA Kalinga for the continuous support in the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for PDLs.
